Planning & Packing

There seems to be a lot of things to organise and then when I step outside my cottage or go on a run. I think ‘No it’s fine, there’s not too much, just 6 music events across Scotland to finalise – 2 in a bothy that need power, 6 packages to sort out and post up, my rucksack to pack, the route, the maps, tunes to sort while walking, Jasper’s food and panniers to fix and everyone to contact again!’. The list continues into the small wee hours…

In the meantime, in the midst of admin drudge there are moments of euphoria and excitement of what I’m about to do, especially today running with my dog Jasper up the local Lowther hills.

Not only will I be walking for miles with my loyal companion Jasper, but I’m going to be composing and performing with some of the best musicians I respect and care about deeply, who are also my friends and have a love for the mountains and Scottish wilderness like I do. As well as the adult musicians, I am privileged to perform with such imaginative and wonderful children from all the schools I have worked with.

It’s been a bit busy to get too nervous. I know I am apprehensive, but I am looking forward to this walk starting! The organising and promoting has to stop sometime! and it’s nearing the end to allow for the beginning…
